Gov't Begins Construction of 12 TVET Institutes.

Gov't has Commenced Construction 12 Technical and Vocational Educational Training TVET Institutes - Dr. Gedion Boako.

The Economic advisor and spokesperson to Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Gideon Boako has said that the government has commenced the construction of 12 Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) institutions across the country.


Dr Boako made the disclosure at the second graduation ceremony of the Global Institute of Mines and Safety (GIMS), and the first graduation of Polaris Academy on Friday at Afirisipa in the Ahafo region.


It was held on the theme, the future we want : the role of the mining companies and their host communities, our duty today with a call on the graduates to focus on self employment.


This, according to the Economist, is in fulfillment of the promise of the government to promote technical and vocational education in the country, for an accelerated development.


Dr Boako indicated that the 12 TVET institutions would be stocked with equipments, professionally trained instructors and administrators to manage the facilities saying that TVET will be included in the 2022 schools selection and placements.


The Economic Advisor reechoed the importance of TVET Service under the Ministry of Education which was recently launched by the Vice President, to streamline technical and vocational education in the academic calendar of the country.

 

Dr Gideon Boako added that the institution of the National TVET Qualification Framework (NTQF) would ensure the pursuant of higher technical and vocational education at the universities such as bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Technology.

 

He commended GIMS for boosting the career and job seeking opportunities of the youth in the region and beyond with an internationally certified professional training of mining equipments and heavy duty machines.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Global Institute of Mines and Safety, Mr Gabriel Larry, said a total of 157 students of GIMS graduated and 163 pupils of Polaris Academy graduated from Creche to basic one.


Mr Larry noted that the institute since its inception has provided professional training of mining equipments operators namely excavator,dump truck, general drilling, bull dozer, wheel loader, back hole, forklift and mobile crane.


The CEO appealed to Newmont Gold Ghana and other mining companies, mining contractors, petrol chemical industries and other institutions to absorb graduates of GIMS saying "our products are internationally certified".


Mr Larry expressed gratitude to Dr Gideon Boako, partners, management, students and staff of GIMS, traditional rulers in the area, Ghana National Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Ghana Police Service, his family and friends for supporting the activities of the center.


The Akwamuhene of Duayaw - Nkwanta traditional area, Nana Boakye Bonsu, pledged the support of the paramountcy to make the school a center of excellence in the northern sector of Ghana.

NSOATRE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL CONDEMNS THE VIOLENCE ACT THAT RESULTED THE DEATH OF KOTOKO SUPPORTER. The Nsoatre Traditional Council has condemns the uncouth behavour of some of the football fans that led to the untimely death of an ardent supporter of Kumasi Asante Football Club.  According to Nsuatre Traditional Council this  unfortunate behaviour happened on the stool land of Nsoatre which the council sees as unfortunate due to the cordial relationship between Nsoatreman and Asanteman which is dated back to 1740.
