Parliament today Approves 2022 "Agyenkwa" Budget Statement.

Parliament Approves 2022 ‘Agyenkwa’ Budget.

Parliament, made up of mainly the members of the Majority side has set aside an earlier decision of the House to reject the 2022 Budget by the Minority members.

First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu says the decision taken by the House last Friday in rejecting the 2022 Budget is not valid because it did not satisfy the standing orders provision that mandates one-half of members to be present to take such decisions.

The First Speaker has currently asked that members present in the Chamber be counted to ensure that they satisfy that provision and then proceed to put forward another vote for the approval or rejection of the 2022 budget.

The move now clears the way for Parliament to conduct another vote on the approval or rejection of the budget.

Ghana’s Parliament occupied by only the NPP Majority on Tuesday, November 30, approved the 2022 budget statement.

The First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu, who sat in for the Speaker said on Tuesday that “The House has adopted the Financial statement and approved the budget statement for the ensuring year ending 31st December 2021.”

“This House has approved the budget and economic statement,” he noted.
