Supposed Facebook Girlfriend Nearly Killed and Scammed Her Facebook Lover on a Visit to meet her in Berekum.

Facebook Lover Dubbed by A Suppose Girlfriend Relationship in Berekum. 

Love they say is a blind as a 23 year-old young man by name Amponsah from Kumasi has been duped and defrauded by his supposed Facebook girlfriend, Winifred in Berekum in the Bono Region.


The young man speaking in a radio interview on a Kumasi based radio station, Akoma Fm show, Akoma Mu Nsem which was monitored by Alrich24newsgh.com on Wednesday 6th October, 2021 said "he got to know his love girlfriend on Facebook page after the supposed girlfriend send him a friend request on his Facebook page and later became friends".


Narrating his situation on a live radio show, said that " he got into the relationship after he accepted a friend request from the supposed girl because looking at the pictures she sent to him, he then proposed to her to be his girlfriend and they begun to share pictures of themselves on social media platforms through WhatsApp and begun to chats".  Adding that, he used to send her supposed girlfriend monies whenever she requests for.


His ordeal started and fall victim after he was asked by his girlfriend to come and visit him in Berekum but earlier told him she was living at Sunyani from the onset of the relationship which lasted only 4 months.


He said "he agreed to visit her supposed girlfriend which he set off from Kumasi to Sunyani but after reaching Sunyani, the supposed girlfriend later called hom and told him to come to Berekum because that is where she is staying which he heeded and continued the journey to Berekum. 


According to him after he reached Berekum to meet his Facebook lover for the first time, the suppose girl friend told him she is busy and cannot come and pick him so she will let her younger brother of 13 years to come and pick him.

The victim, Amposah said he bored pragyia, a tricycle to meet her girlfriend and got alighted at a junction she directed by 9:00pm in the evening to where the supposed Facebook lover was and immediately called the young boy and saw him coming and instead meet by some 4 young boys who escorted him to an uncompleted building who begun to attack him with knives and as a results  robbed him of his red iPhone SR and Ghc700.00. 


He said "they threatened to kill him with machete they were holding" and also forced him to call any of his family members to send him money to be given to them before they will allow him to go".


He explained that "in the course of the attack, he decided to call the supposed girlfriend who is called Winifred to inform her about the situation but the phone was ringing in the pocket of one of his attackers meaning the supposed girlfriend was among those who were attacking him and was not a girl rather a boy.


He added that "the 4 boys forced him to change the iCloud password on his iPhone which they ceased and for the sake of his life change his iCloud "Amponsah Amponsah "on his iPhone to a new iCloud password "Owusuaa Owusuaa" to be used by them.


He explained that they let him flee after severe beatings around 1:00am in the night afte they got what they want from him.

He fortunately saved by pragyia ridder after he was fled who took him from where they left him to the Berekum lorry station to sleep in the pragyia in the night.


He said " he believed in the supposed girlfriend because of the ladies pictures he sent to him for him to believe that she was indeed a girl but later got attacked by scammers but thanked God he was saved after what he went through.


He therefore cautioned social media users to be very careful of the people they interact with on social media especially on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram amongst others so that they will not fall victim. 


He finally called on Ghana Police Service to intervene in the situation about what some of the youth and scammers are duping people on social media.
