UENR DORMAA CAMPUS IS CHALLENGED WITH INFRASTRUCTURAL EXPANSION DELAY-VC
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako has called on government through Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to as a matter of urgency complete two separate blocks earmarked for administrative, ICT Laboratory and other departments for the Dormaa Campus of the university.
According to the Professor, the projects which commenced in 2013 have still not been completed, a situation he described as worrying and creating unfriendly lecturing and studying environment for both students and lecturers.
He was speaking during a ground-breaking ceremony at the institution's Dormaa Campus to commence the construction of a Cafeteria to solve the protracted feeding related challenges for both students and staff of the school.
Professor Asare-Bediako added that the Dormaa Campus has no a hostel facility but the students depends on private ones. The situation, he said is a big challenge for the students. He called on all entities that are interested in the hostel business to come to their aid to partner with the institute.
He commended the Executives of the Students Representative Council for their initiative to think outside the box by aiding the school with a cafeteria.
The President of the Students Representative Council (SRC), Richard Wiafe speaking with the media said, the local executives informed them about the need for a cafeteria and upon critical consultations, they saw the urgent need of their request hence the ground-breaking to start one in the school.
The Ghc500,000 facility, when completed would comprise of an auditorium, offices and a 150-seater cafeteria that will serve as a place of comfort to satisfy the needs of the students, lecturers and visitors.
The Dean of Students, Dr. Dominic Otoo advised the students to use the University's Channel of Communication to resolve all forms of issues that they may encounter on the campus. The channel of communication, he means, should be directed through the Students Representative Council, to the Dean of Students, then to the Registrar before it gets to the Vice Chancellor.
According to him, if is properly used, all issues would be smoothly and amicably resolved to overcome all the challenges faced them.
