Chief threatens to ban ‘Pragyia’ in his traditional area.

The Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area in the Cape Coast Metropolis in the Central Region, Osabarima Kwesi Atta VI, has threatened to ban the use of the fast-growing tricycles popularly known as Pragyia in Coastal City.


According to the Chief, the tricycle which has become a major means of transportation in several towns in Cape Coast has led to the loss of several lives due to reckless riding.


According to him, criminal activities have increased in the Cape Coast metropolis due to the introduction of the pragyia.


He added that most of the riders are underaged and inexperienced and also operate without a license.

According to him, the introduction of the pragyia has also contributed to high School dropout as most children choose to go into the commercial business instead of furthering their education.


The Chief has therefore threatened to ban the use of the tricycles in the Cape Coast Metropolis.


In an interview after a Town Hall Meeting, the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency, Hon. Rickets Kweku Hagan also said he supports the Paramount Chief decision to ban the use of pragyia in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

25-Year-Old Young Man Electrocuted in Berekum . A suspected thief by the name Oboshie in his 25 years has been electrocuted at Berekum Nyamebekyere in the Berekum East Municipal of the Bono region . BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council.
