Form 'Watchdog's Committee To Fight Crime - Sunyani Divisional Police Commander Urges. 


The Sunyani Divisional Police Commander, ACP Thomas Tindow has called on the people of the various communities within the Sunyani Municipality to m come out and formed volunteer groups otherwise known as 'watchdog' committee to support the fight of crime within the Municipality.


According to him, the move will help augment the wok of the Ghana Police Service in fighting crime within the Municipality to suppress it.


ACP Thomas, Commenting on the recent murder case that was recorded last weekend involving a 28-year old Richard Appiah who is alleged to have killed 3 persons and stored some parts of their bodies in his refrigerator at Alaska near Abesim. He noted that, officers from the CID headquarters who have been deployed to the Municipality to assist in investigations are seriously working to get to the tale end of the matter.


He added that, the number of people who can be part of the Watchdog Committee can be made of at least seven men who have no criminal records and are ready volunteer to support the community. 


He said if his suggest will be acceptable, the team will work hand-in-hand with the police where the list of the men will be presented to the Police in order for them to be easily identified and necessary training will be offered by the police.


He was speaking on Dinpa 91.3Fm morning show on Tuesday August 24, which the Commander said, the watchdog committee when formed will work as a team who will patrol their various communities and volunteer vital informations leading to the arrest of suspected criminals to the police and assured that the police is also ready to assist them in terms of security to protect them in the work of any challenges they may face to combat crime together.
