N/E Region: A 37 Year-Old Farmer killed by Elephants Whiles Filming them in the Farm at North East Region.

AN INVADED ELEPHANTS KILLS ONE IN A VILLAGES AT NAMBORUGU-NAMBORTELI IN THE NORTH EAST REGION.

A 37 year-old motor spare parts dealer has met his untimely death after a notorious elephants invaded a farming community at the Namborugu-Nambortli, a suburb of Gbintiri District of the North East Region of Ghana whiles filming an elephants in the farm.

    

Namborugu-Nambortli and many other villages are farming communities in the  Gbintiri of the East Mamprugu Municipality of the North East Region where the elephants invaded a farm nd killed one at the time he wanted to film them.


Speaking to an eye witness, Ali Sakukuni from Kpatinga, he disclosed that, Fuseini Damanko the deceased saw the invading elephants and started taking pictures and videos of the elephants including many others which an angry elephant pulled out it's trunk and stretched at the man and pushed him against a tree severial times and died.

According to the reports, the deceased purposely went to the farm to catch a glimpse of the invading elephants who are reported to have appeared in the farms and in the course of taking the pictures and videos of the elephants one grabbed him with it's trunk and hit him on a tree. The Chiefs and the Assemblemen in the area therefore ordered the people in the communities to kill the elephants instead but they finally managed and gun down two of the elephants but one was able to flee but chased it to find it dead.


He added that, it was quite unclear what transpired between the elephants and the farmers which led to the death of the man, however, the lifeless body of the deceased was sent to the Damanko village for preparation and burial arrangements as the costumes demand.

       

The chiefs in the area have announced to the people to remain calm and focused as investigation continues to find out the cause of the man's death.
