President Nana Akufo Addo wins 2020 Ghana general elections.

BREAKING: Akufo Addo Wins 2020 Presidential Election in Ghana- EC Declares

The Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, Jean Mensa has just declared the incumbent New Patriotic government under the stewardship of Nana Akufo Addo the winner of the just-ended 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

Ghana consolidated its name as a model of peace and stability in Africa after the country went to the polls on December 7 which was conducted in a customary peaceful atmosphere that has widely been applauded by the international community.

The election was obviously a two-horse race between the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by former president John Damani Mahama and Nana Akufo Addo.

Against all odds, John Dramani Mahama performed creditably well and pulled in a lot of numbers but ultimately fell short to beat Akufo Addo who rode his luck to some extent owing to his Free SHS policy which became his main campaign message that caught on well with the average Ghanaian.

In announcing the results, the EC’s chairperson, Madam Jean Adukwei Mensa said the NPP obtained 6,730,413 which represents 51.49% as against Mahama’s 6,214,889  being 47.366%

The NDC’s leader had earlier vowed to resist any attempt to subvert the electoral process claiming they have won but it’s obvious the electoral process has been largely transparent.

The NDC also performed well in the parliamentary results as they managed to reclaim ‘flip’ over 30 seats belonging to the NPP. They won….while the NPP got out of the 275 constituencies. This means they have won the election.
