Church of Pentecost Berekum Area holds Agent of Peace Campaign ahead of 2020 elections.


CHURCH OF PENTECOST BEREKUM AREA HOLDS AGENT OF PEACE CAMPAIGN. 


As part of Ghana's 2020 general elections scheduled to take place in December 7, the Church of Pentecost in the Berekum Area has launched an Agent of Peace Campaign to promote peace before, during and after the 2020 elections.


The peace campaign brought together most of the Clergy in and outside the Pentecost Church, Muslim heads, political aspirants of both Berekum East and West constituencies, MCE and DCE of Berekum East and West respectively and the church members. 


The Area head, Apostle Samuel Berko speaking on the theme: "Agent of Peace Campaign" called on the people of Berekum and it's environs to be an agent of peace ahead of the 2020 general elections. He said the Church has a role to play to continue to promote and maintain peace of this country ahead of the impending elections.  

The Berekum East Municipal Electoral Commission Officer, Madam Winfred Konadu stated that the commission is well prepaI red to referee the elections with it's ethical standards to ensure peace is maintained in the country during and after the elections.


Both the Divisional and Municipal Police Commanders of Berekum, ACP Ebenazer Ampofo and DSP Andrews Okonengye respectively assured that the security of the people will never be compromised during the elections. Adding that, the police will stand in the gab to defend the peace that has been enjoyed by all as Ghanaians.

The National Commission for Civic Education NCCE Director of Berekum East Mr. Michael Abina also urged the people that NCCE is mandated to undertake all aspects of education concerning the elections and said all the necessary peace campaigns will be effected to address the public on the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after the elections. 


The Political parties aspirants contesting for parliamentary slots both in Berekum East and West were all present including, NPP candidate, Mr. Nelson Kyeremeh and NDC candidate Elder Simon Ampabeng Kyeremeh contesting Berekum East Constituency and Mr. Dickson Kwabena Kyere Duah a.k.a Stugard and NPP representative of Hon. Kwaku Agyenim Boateng aka Agoogo, DCE of Berekum West Hon. Isaac Osei and other parties representatives including independent candidates all pledged to be agents of peace in 2020 general elections before, during and after the elections.

NSOATRE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL CONDEMNS THE VIOLENCE ACT THAT RESULTED THE DEATH OF KOTOKO SUPPORTER. The Nsoatre Traditional Council has condemns the uncouth behavour of some of the football fans that led to the untimely death of an ardent supporter of Kumasi Asante Football Club.  According to Nsuatre Traditional Council this  unfortunate behaviour happened on the stool land of Nsoatre which the council sees as unfortunate due to the cordial relationship between Nsoatreman and Asanteman which is dated back to 1740.
