NCCE holds social audit forum at Akrofro in Berekum East.


NCCE HOLDS COMMUNITY SOCIAL AUDITING FORUM IN BEREKUM.


The National Commission for Civic Education NCCE has held it's community social auditing forum at Akrofro in the Berekum East Municipal.

The forum which was held on Friday, 28th August, 2020 was seek  to bring to bare accountability and auditing involving the participation of local community members in develepomt process.

The Municipal Director of NCCE in Berekum, Mr. Michael Abina stressed the need of local members to participate in decision making that entails develepomt in their communities.

He said the social audit forum was organized to enlighten citizens to be responsible and monitor all projects that will be excuted by the assembly.

He therefore encouraged the people to be watch dog especially on their Clinic, the only health center of the community to give it facelift as challenges of the clinic are directed to the assembly to fix it.


The social audit committee at Akrofro was inuagurated by the MCE, Hon. Kofi Adjei and Nana Adjei Kyere, the Chief of Akrofro. The committee will function as a body to spearhead all projects that will be undertaken by the Municipal Assembly in the accordance with the community's need. 

Hon. Kofi Adjei also added that, the government is expanding decentralization system to bring it to the door steps of the citizenery hence the need of all to participate in develepomt process of every community.

He urged the committee to work hand in hand with Nananom, the Assembly member and other stakeholders to know the necessary develepomt needed to undertake by the assembly. 

The Chief of Akrofro, Nana Adjei Kyere, commended NCCE for such a consultation and forum for his people to help them know their right in develepoment oriented process.

He promised that, he will do all that he can to make the social audit committee inuagurated functional in it's activities in the town.

The forum was well patronized by the people of Akrofro which was initiated by National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE and supported by Anti-Corruption Programme, ARAP and Eupropean Unio, EU to help enhanced development decisions making in local communities.

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono Region Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II has passed on. The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
