BEREKUM EAST MCE ACCOUNTS ON DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS
The Chief Executive of Berekum East Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region, Hon. Kofi Adjei has today held meet the press encounter to highlight projects undertaken by the NPP government led by President Nana Akuffo Addo.
According to the MCE, several projects have been undertaken in the municipality with over 25 completed in the three and a half years of stewardship since 2017 by the government of Ghana, and the meet the press encounter is a platform to account to the people of Berekum.
Hon. Kofi Adjei outlined the following projects as commenced and completed under his watch.
1 No. 3-Unit classroom and 3-Seater toilet facility at Anyinasu
1 No. Boys dormitory with ancillary facilities and 1 No. 6 Unit Classroom block at Berekum Senior High School (BESS)
1 No. 3 Unit Classroom block with ancillary facilities at Berekum R/C Mixed Primary
1 No. 6 Unit Classroom block at Berekum Demonstration School with ancillary facilities at Yiadom Boakye Demonstration 'C' school, 1 No. 6-Unit Classroom block with ancillary facilities at St. Monica's School, 1 No. 3-Unit Classroom block with ancillary facilities at Akatim R/C Junior High School, 1 No. 6-Unit Classroom block and 1 No. 4-Seater toilet facility with external works at Berekum Presbyterian Senior High School.
He continues on some of the completed projects, 1 No. 2-Unit K.G block with ancillary facilities at Mpatasie M/A Basic School, 1 No. 2-Unit Classroom block at Akroforo and others.
On the issue of health as to how best the assembly handle Covid-19 pandemic, he explained that, distribution of Nose marks, Veronica buckets, liquid soaps, tissues and sanitizers, public education through the media and disinfection, drilling of boreholes were undertaken at Central Market, Main Station, Thursday Market among others.
He continued that planting for food and jobs is also yielding result as the assembly has supported farmers with seedlings to boost agriculture in the Municipality. Over 1000 Cocoa seedlings were given to 20 farmers
Also 247,469 Cashew seedlings were given to 1,290 farmers under Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) program.
He stressed on some of the ongoing projects including the Ghana Secondary City Support Programme which is redeveloping Berekum Thursday Market with funding from the World Bank in collaboration with the Government of Ghana.
In conclusion, he thanked all stakeholders who pushed for the 22km asphalt overlay ongoing in Berekum.
Finally, he thanked the media for the support in all coverages of the assembly and urged them to keep it up and maintain a good relationship with the assembly.
