Chiraaman deserves the district hospital of the President proposed 88 hospitals according to the Chiraa traditional authorities.

CHIRAA DESERVES DISTRICT HOSPITAL - TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY

Barima Mintah Afari II and Nana Yeboah Pene II, Chief and Queen Mother of Chiraa Traditional Area in the Sunyani West District of the Bono Region has lamented in a press conference the need to benefit from the President's proposed District Hospital.

Addressing the media, Barima Mintah Afari II was thankful to President Nana Akufo Addo for the prompt response to construct 88 district hospitals across the country amid Covid-19 to fight the virus.

According to him, Chiraa has been neglected consistently in the sharing of the national cake. Government institutions such as Ghana Fire Service, NHIS office, Ghana Ambulance Service, District Court amongst others are in Nsoatre, likewise Odumase the district capital have benefited from Education Office, NCCE office, District Police Command among others are situated in these towns unlike Chiraa.
Chiraa rates the highest amongst these town in terms of revenue mobilization for development and has over 16,000 population according to the 2010 census. "It therefore saddens our hearts that we are always sidelined in terms of development" Barima bemoaned.

Chiraa can boost of a standardized health Center through the people own efforts. Chiraaman needs an upgrade of the health facility to a district hospital status, the only town that can support the President to achieve the expected mandate of a district hospital.
They are therefore appealing to the government through the Ministry of Health to reconsider their decision not to divert what belongs to Chiraaman to other town in the Sunyani West District since they have a vast land and structures to that effect to be recommended for the district hospital proposed.

Chiraa shares boarders with other Districts such as Tano North/South, Techiman South, Offinso North and Wenchi Municipal making it accessible to a wider populace.
Barima Mintah Afari II said, though other towns like Nsoatre are also fighting for the District hospital but in terms of health accessibility, they are close to Berekum Holy Family Hospital, Regional Hospital, Sunyani Municipal Hospital which is not the case of Chiraa. The District Ambulance Service has also been strategically positioned at Nsoatre to provide emergency services for the people to transfer patients easily than to build a district hospital preferably.

Chiraa do not have ambulance and when it comes to accessibility of the hospitals mentioned above they are very far from Chiraa unlike Nsutre and Odumase, hence the decision of Chiraaman to request for the district hospital strategically to support the President Nana Akufo Addo's vision.

On the other hand,  the concern youth association at Chiraa also on 29th of June, 2020 held a press conference to press home their appeal for the construction of the district hospital at Chiraa.
