IS WEARING OF FACE MASKS BEING ADHERED TO IN BEREKUM?

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area, Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II has caution the people of Berekum not to play with Covid-19 but to use the face ma'ks which is mandatory to stop the spread of the virus in our environment.

Daasebre during his presentation of PPEs to health institutions in Berekum called on the police to enforce the wearing of face masks in Berekum as one of the directives towards the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

Alrich24newsgh.com has toured to the streets, markets and lorry stations in Berekum to find out if the people are observing the protocols to fight the virus.

In our observations on the streets, we can boldly say only a few people are following the instructions of wearing the face masks.
Other had it with them but were reluctant to put them on.
Speaking to a member of the Board of Trustees for Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) - Berekum branch Mr. Boadu Isaac said, they have instructed the drivers to ensure that every passenger wears a face mask before allowed to join a vehicle at the station. He called for the enforcement on the wearing of face mask  at the station. Unfortunately majority of the people are not following these directives he added.

Traders at the lorry station raised concerns on the quality of the face mask on sale. For them,  they are unable to wear it throughout the day due to stress it comes with. Others were seen wearing it no their chin instead of the face.

Traders who sell face masks said passengers patronize their goods more than those walking around the station.
