E.C. owns Ghanaians an explainations to the compilations of the new voters register in the mist of Covid 19.
E.C. OWNS GHANAIANS EXPLANATION ON THE NEW VOTER REGISTER COMPILATIONS.
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is taking measures to compile a new voters register to be used for the 2020 General elections.
The mandate of conducting an elections in the country has been given to the EC, the sole body to handle elections in Ghana.
According to Alrich24newsgh.com research concerning the new voter register compilation and what has been monitored so far, the conditions set by the commission to compile the new voters register is equally not sound and clear to the general public, which seem to disfranchise a category of people their voting rights. The EC has announced the documents needed to process a voter identification card including, Ghana Identification Card (Ghana Card) and a Passport alternatively but not well understood.
The EC must as much as possible clear all doubts in mind among the political parties in the country who have taken sides in the wake of the new voters registeration exercise.
The EC which is an independent body does not need any party to undertake it's communication's activities to explained to the Ghanaian public the necessity to compile a new register, if there is no strategy to disfranchise some people in the country. If they are so willing to do that and to prove Ghanaians wrong they have to support the people in country to have access to vote in this year's December elections since it's their right though we are fighting Covid 19.
In our research some political parties are accusing the EC and National Identification Authority (NIA) for conniving to rig this year's elections which is impossible whilst other parties are also defending the EC to go on with the new voters register, what at all is in the voter's register to the politicians instead to unit and rally behind the EC to achieve a common good.
Let's put it on record that, all the information needed by Ghanaian voter to register has already been captured in the Ghana Card including the old voter identification number and even NHIS card number. So if EC is demanding Ghana Card or Passport for processing voter identification card, there is nothing wrong with this initiative but their communications has failed the Ghanaian people when it comes to communications on elections in Ghana. NCCE, the only organization to undertake sensations campaigns has also been under resourced. The Public Relations outfit of the Electoral Commission has not been up and doing as critical it should be to give explainations to Ghanaians on the compilation of a new voters register, the communication team must be serious to work for Ghanaians since they are being paid by the taxes of Ghanaians.
Alrich24newsgh.com can say that, the new voters register should be allowed to be effected since all the requirements are in the Ghana Card but NIA must also be proactive to make sure that every Ghanaian has got his or her Ghana card to enable each and everyone to acquire their new voter identification card as citizen of land.
