PRAGYIA RIDERS AND OWNERS ASSOCIATION SUPPORT ORPHANAGE HOME.
The Pragyia Riders and Owners Association in Berekum of the Bono Region has today Tuesday, 28th April, 2020 make a benevolent donation to the Berekum World of Friends, an orphanage home to support them with food items.
The PRO of the Association, Mr. Julious Ampabeng aka Agogo speaking Alrich24newsgh.com on behalf of the association members said, the whole country is in crisis and this little ones cannot be left out hence the decision of the association to support them in kind to alleviate some of the challenges faced the home at this trying times as we all fighting Covid 19.
He said it's through the members contributions they have got such items to be given to them, though it may not be enough but it can help the home to overcome some of the feeding problems face them.
Receiving the items on behalf of the home, the home mother Madam Serwaa Akoto also thanked the association for their kind gesture to visit them in this time of crisis.
She said, as Ghana is battle to stop the spread of the Corona virus, the children of the home have been kept indoors but was expecting people will donate to them such the association has done for them
She bless all the members of Pragyia Riders and Owners Association for coming to the aid of the home. A certificate of honour was given to the association as a sign of appreciation to them for visiting the home.
The Association chairman, Appiah Ranson concluded that this donation will not be the last time the association will visit the place but plans are that they will keep on coming to support the children in the home.
Some if the items the association provided to the home includes 4 bags of rice, 2 bags of gari, oil, soap, toiletries, drinks, tin of tomatoes and others.
THE USE OF PRAGYIA BAN IS LIFTED BY BONO REGIONAL MINISTER
Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson in the fight against Covid 19 on 1st April, 2020 placed a ban on the use of tricycles (Pragyia) in the region.The Minister together with REGSEC in their monitoring and evaluation exercise has considered lifting the ban on the movement of the tricycles (Pragyia) in the region effective from Monday 27th April, 2020 with some conditions to be applied by the operators of the tricycles (Pragyia) in the region.
Among the conditions to lift the ban includes the following:
1. That all the Tricycles must be registered by the Drivers and Vehicle Licesing Authority, DVLA.
2. All Riders should have riders license.
3. In order to make social distancing effective, only (2) two passengers shall be allowed to board the tricycle at a time.
4. It should be noted that, Tricycles (Pragyia) shall not be allowed to ply the principal street of Sunyani being the seat of the government in the Region.
5. As a precautionary measures, all Riders are required to wear nose marks and make sure that the passengers also wear their nose marks before boarding.
6. Owners and Riders are to make available hand sanitizers for the use of by passengers before boarding.
7. All Owners and Riders are also being encouraged to belong to their recognised association for easy identification.
8. All Riders are again being encouraged to be decently dress during working hours.
In the fight against Covid 19 in the Bono Region, REGSEC is in the hope that all Owners and Riders will strictly comply with these measures to help limit the spread of the Corona virus in the region. Other road traffic regulations was expected to be adhered to by the operators of Tricycle in the region.
MOTORCYCLE OWNERS AND TRICYCLES RIDERS ASSOCIATION PETITION MINISTER.
The Motorcycle Owners and Tricycles Riders Association in the Bono Region has on Thursday 9th April, 2020 petition the Regional Minister Hon. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson over the ban on the use of tricycles in the region.
According to the association the regional minister directed a ban to be placed on the tricycles use commercially due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The association has agreed to obey to the directives and has called on members to cease operations across the region.
The leaders of the association has therefore petition the regional minister to reconsider the decision of the ban and are willing to adhere to measures that will be given them.
Alhaji Issaka Ibrahim, the Chairman of the association said over 15,000 youth are now unemployed and if care is not taken this will lead to high cost of transport fares internally, low productivity, high cost of living, increase in poverty rate and a very high rate of social vices like stealing, drug abuse and others.
He explained that members of the association were adhering to all the preventive measures for fighting Corona virus. They advised their members to follow all protocols and will still do even if they are allowed to transport only two passengers for commercial purposes instead of banning them indefinitely.
They have therefore called on the minister and other authorities in the region to intervene on their behalf to regularized their services to reduce the unemployment rate in the region.
BEREKUM TRICYCLE (PRAGYIA) SERVICES IS BANNED BUT RIDERS APPEALS FOR TWO PASSENGER SERVICES.
The use of tricycles (Pragyia) and it's patronage in the Bono Region have been banned indefinitely per order from the Regional Minister, Hon. Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson on 1st April, 2020.
This directives today 8th April, 2020 has caused most of the passengers in Berekum who board the machine stranded in the golden city.
Contrary to the directives since then, services by the ridders have been fully functional in Berekum.
According to Pragyia Riders Association Chairman in Berekum, Appiah Ramson, they are not aware of such directives "nothing of such nature have been communicated to us. This is news to us".
The Berekum East Municipal Assembly today 7th April, 2020 met with the executives of the association to officially inform them of the ban.
Executives of the association have today called on all riders in Berekum to adhere to the instructions and hold on with the services effective from tomorrow Wednesday 8th April, 2020.
On the other hand, they made an appeal to the government "to allow us take only two passengers on board". They also pleaded for a legislative instrument to be passed when the dust settles " we will appeal to parliament to legalize the use of tricycle for commercial use in the country".
The association claimed that the emergence of the tricycles have created more jobs for the youth.
The ban is the 3rd point of the 8 major points issued as measures by the Regional Minister to fight the disease per advice from Ghana Health Service and Regional Security Council in prevention of the spread of covid-19.
