The Secret behind the Berekum Roundabout and all the History and why Omanhemaa fined Okomfo Sakumba and Prophet Owusu Kwakye with 9 sheep.

THE SECRETS AND HISTORY BEHIND ALMIGHTY BEREKUM ROUNDABOUT.
The controversy and over talked about issues surrounding the Berekum roundabout fountain construction has vividly been explained by the Tumtumhene of Berekum Traditional Area, Nana Akrasi Yeboah.

According to him, the construction was initiated and constructed by the Omanhene of Berekum, Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II with the help of Mr. Yaw Obeng a transport businessman based in Accra.

In the year 2010, the construction faced with a lot of opposition from the then District Chief Executive, Hon. Lord Oppong Stephen. He sued Daasebre for constructing the roundabout without the permission of the District Assembly. During that time, the statue was erected and dismantled by an unknown gang. Inspite of all these Daasebre firmly saw through the completion of the beautiful fountain.
Nana Akrasi further explained what the statue symbolizes "the woman carrying baby at her back with a basket and a machete to represents Berekum women who supports their husbands in their farming business especially cocoa farmers". Berekum is noted of cocoa as their main source of wealth.

Nana Tumtumhene explicitly rubbished the claims of Nana Sakumba on planting a charm at the round about. In as much as he agrees with the fine Omanhemaa gave Nana Sakumba and Prophet Owusu Kwakye, he encouraged people living in Berekum not to be afraid of what has happened since nothing is found there.
QUEENMOTHER OF BEREKUM CHARGES PROPHET OWUSU KWAKYE AND KOMFO SAKUMBA WITH 9 SHEEP

The Queen Mother of Berekum Traditional Area, Nana Akosua Ameyaahene III therefore summoned the man of God and the fetish priest on Monday 2nd March, 2020 over allegations of a believed incantations done at the Berekum roundabout.

The summons brought the two spiritualists, to the Omanhene's palace to hear their sides of alleged story by the Omanhemaa and its chiefs. It was alleged that, the two have bewitch the town by planting a spell at the Berekum roundabout to draw masses to the church of the prophet.

Prophet Owusu Kwakye in his response to the case which Alrich24newsgh.com sighted declared that, he has not had any deal with Okomfo Sakumba as he claims.
He continued that he met the priest only three months ago after the priest decided to buy his car which he refused to pay back the negotiated amount agreed upon. He said because the fetish priest could not pay him after the purchase of car, he called for his arrest after which the fetish priest promised to disgrace him for causing his arrest.
To him, any question about the alleged incantation at the roundabout must be answered by Okomfo Sakumba since he don't know anything about it.

On the other hand, Okomfo Sakumba responded that he gave something to Prophet Owusu Kwakye to be planted at Berekum but gave him a place but he believes the prophet had kept it at the roundabout.

Adding that the prophet came to his shrine for help of which he gave him charm to be planted at a junction or his church premises which he said Prophet Owusu Kwakye was afraid because people will get to know the charms.
According to the fetish priest, Prophet Owusu Kwakye decided to plant the charm at the roundabout because it was to demand blood.

Nana Sakumba in a rebuttal to prove his relationship with the prophet decided to play a video showing the prophet at his shrine ricit. The prophet again denied all charges leveled against him and claimed Okomfo Sakumba is deliberately disgracing him as promised for arresting him.
Omanhemaa of Berekum Traditional Area, Nana Akosuah Ameyaahene III, adjourned the case after charging them for physically and spiritually dragging the image of Berekum in the mud.
Okomfo Sakumba and Prophet Owaus Kwakye was slapped with 3 sheep and 6 sheep respectively to quell the anger of the gods of the Berekum land.
A lot of people trooped to the Omanhene's palace to catch a glimpse of the case between the prophet and the Okomfo which most them questioned why should a prophet relate to fetish priest.

  1. Nice article....But Berekum land it self is NOT noted for cocoa but many inhabitants have resettled in cocoa farming communities such as sefwi and goaso of which the proceeds are realised and felt in Berekum particularly the cocoa season.
Berekum as it stands is a retail and light industrial town....
