BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL BOYCOT 63RD INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION.

The Berekum Traditional Council in the Bono Region has today boycotted the 63rd Independence Day Anniversary Celebration held at the Berekum Golden City Park.

According to the unianimous decision by the traditional council, the decision was backed by the disrepectful behaviour towards them by the Municipal Assembly.

The Council headed by Daasebre Dr. Amankona Diawuo II has however resolved that until they see a sign of remorse from the assembly they will not participate in any activity organized by the Municipal Assembly in Berekum.

Though the traditional authorities side lined the occasion but the contigents from the various schools ranging from the 32 basic, JHS and SHS took part of the today's event.
Hon. Kofi Adjei together with the Berekum East Education Director, Madam Grace Ivy Ameyaw, Municipal Presiding Member, Hon. Joseph Baffour Awuah and the Divisional MTTD Commander took the salute from the contigents who participated the anniversary.
Hon. Kofi Adjei in his speech called for unity and peace among the people of Berekum and also  support the President, Nana Akuffo Addo in his quest to bring development to Ghana and for that matter Berekum.

Some of the deserving schools and students received an awards for best performances after the parade of today's celebrations at the golden city park.
