Member of Council of State Advises Berekum Political Leaders To Speed Up Development

COUNCIL OF STATE MEMBER DESCENDS ON POLITICAL HEADS IN BEREKUM.

The former Inspector General of Police (IGP) and former Ghana Ambassador to Israel, Nana Owusu Nsiah, who is currently a Council of State Member in President Nana Akuffo-Addo's administration has announced his displeasure on the poor performances of political leaders in Berekum.

Nana Owusu Nsiah who is also the Mawerehene of Berekum Traditional Council reiterated that, the abysmal performance of the political authorities in Berekum has led people in a state of complete dilemma due to the bad nature of roads in the town.

In a press conference on Monday, 11th November 2019, said "Berekum has not developed because the government appointees are not doing their best to improve and transform the development in the town".

He continued that, no one should blame him for the bad state of roads in the Berekum township but the municipal assembly since it is their core mandate to spearhead the developmental projects in the city including the construction of roads.

He said he has contributed a lot to see Berekum develop so people should stop accusing him of not utilizing the opportunity given him by the President to push developmental projects for the town, again, he is not in charge of taxes collected in the town to develop Berekum.

He tasked the MCEs and DCEs in two constituencies, Berekum East and West District as well as the two MP's in both Berekum East and West to deliver their core mandate to serve the people of Berekum.
According to Nana Owusu Nsiah, though the MP's are not to construct roads but they are to lobby for development and enacting of laws and his problem is that,  the two MP's are are not cooperating with their MCE and DCE's for development in Berekum. He said, he has identified that there is lack of unity among the MP's and their MDCE's to partner for development and this is hampering the effective progress and development in Berekum.

He said the MPs are to do well in their various constituencies and trasnform lives of the people economically but that is not the case here in Berekum.

He therefore advised the political authorities including the two MP's and their MDCE's to collaborate strongly to seek the development and progress of Berekum.

He charged the people of Berekum to hold their political authorities to deliver their mandates assigned them but not he as the member of council of state that they keep on heeping insults on.

Nana Owusu Nsiah again challenge the security authorities to be up and doing to combat all forms of crime perpetrated by the so called ghetto boys in the town. He said a police swoop should be conducted to demolished all forms of illegal hide outs that lodges the youths.

He urged the youth in Berekum to embrace free Senior High school implemented by the government to reach higher height in life.

Added that, education is the bedrock of society and the youth should use every available avenue to further their education to chalk success.

He concluded that without unity Berekum cannot develop therefore all should unite and come together to see the progress and development of Berekum the golden city.

  1. Thanks Nana. The down fall of BEREKUMMAN is The party politics in the town. Npp representatives in the town are the cause of all that is going on. The MCE Kofi Adjei, Dr. Nuama and AAgyenim Boateng has nothing good for the town.
