BEREKUM MUNICIPAL NADMO INAUGURATES DISASTER MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

The Berekum Municipal National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) of the Bono Region has inaugurated the Municipal Disaster Management Committee to help curb disasters in the Municipality.
The Committee which is chaired by the MCE of Berekum, Hon. Kofi Adjei, comprises of all the departmental heads in the Municipality including NADMO Director, MP, Director of Health, Education, Police Commander, District Fire Officer, Information Officer, Environmental Officer, Planning Officer, Social Welfare Officer, Assembly Member and the media.
Speaking at the inaugural meeting, the NADMO Director of Berekum Municipal, Mr Kojo Agyekum  expressed his gratitude to all the heads of department for coming to support NADMO to fight disaster.
He said the Disaster Management Committee are to prepare plans for the Municipality to prevent and mitigate disasters in its areas of authority in as maintaining a close liaison and relation with the Regional Disaster Management Committee in drawing up its plans.
He finally said that the Committee has been formed to work with NADMO to deliver its mandates effectively in the Municipality.
According to the NADMO Director, Berekum is prone to disaster both natural and human occurrances which has caused a lot of damage to some people and property in the city.
He explained that within one and half years, Berekum has recorded more than 5 serious fire-outbreaks which destroyed properties amounting to millions of Ghana Cedis.
Some of the Committee members also pledged to work together to ensure a disaster-free Berekum.
Hon. Kofi Adjei in his advice to the 18-member Committee emphasised on time management as the key to averting disasters.
He encouraged the members to resource the Committee with their knowledge on emergency situations to overcome all possible disasters in Berekum Municipality and charged the Committee members to swiftly  inform NADMO on all issues concerning disaster management to prevent them as soon as possible.

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono Region Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II has passed on. The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
