METHODIST DEVELOPMENT FUND SUPPORTS' BEREKUM METHODIST SENIOR HIGH AND TECHNICAL SCHOOL TEACHERS BUNGLOW RENOVATION
BEREKUM METHODIST SENIOR HIGH AND TECHNICAL SCHOOL GET SUPPORT FROM METHODIST DEVELOPMENT FUND.
The Berekum Methodist Senior High and Technical School which is challenged with infrastructural deficit have been relieved by the Methodist Development Fund to support infrastructural expansion in the institution.
The school with a students population of about 1,624 is founded by the Methodist Church of Ghana and is located at Berekum-Biadan in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region.
The Church development Fund has come to the aid of the school with a sum of GHC50,000 to renovate the Teachers' bungalow that got burnt this year, about four months ago.
At the ceremony to present the cheque to the school, the Methodist Bishop of Sunyani Diocese in the Bono Region, Right Rev. Bishop Daniel Akwasi Tanoh noted that, the cheque is coming from the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana to alleviate the plight of the school, and this assistance is from the Methodist Development Fund.
He also said plans are also in advanced to support the schools' ongoing expansion works of the assembly hall which presently cannot contain enough students.
The Right Rev. Bishop Akwasi Tanoh explained that, the Methodist Church will do it's best to draw the attention of the government to the school and called for individuals and Organizations to come to the aid of the school because it is the only Technical Senoir High School in the Berekum Municipality.
Receiving the Cheque, the Headmaster of the School, Mr. Enoch Mensah Febri also thanked the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana and all the leaders of the church for providing financial assistance to the school at the time letters have been dispatched with the aim of soliciting for funds to support the school after it's teachers bungalow was engulfed with fire.
He expressed his joy and belief that more support will come to the school since the school is training most of the children in the Municipality to acquire technical skills to close the unemployment gab in the country after students leave the school.
The Berekum Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Grace Ivy Ameyaw also thanked God and the church for their kind gesture because the school is faced with a lot of challenges.
She said, what the Methodist Church Ghana has done is awesome because there has been a lot of letters sent out for support but the church has responded very quickly for which she appreciated it much.
The Director called on the government to support the school since the school was left out of the GETFund projects for Free Senoir High School program in Berekum. She tasked the leaders of the church to help the school get some of the projects undertaken by the GETFund.
The students also expressed their joy to see the Methodist Church Ghana coming to their aid to present a cheque of GhC 50, 000.00. According to the students, their school is facing a lot of challenges, they lack a number of facilities including Administration Block, School Bus, Boys Dormitory, Dinning hall and others.
The students therefore appealed to philanthropic Organizations and agencies to support their school popularly called MESTHEC.
