BEREKUMMAN CITIZENS ASSOCIATION TO CONSTRUCT ULTRA MODERN TOILET FACILITY IN BEREKUM MAIN LORRY STATION

The  Berekumman Citizens Association, which comprises of  Berekum citizens both at home and abroad is gradually striving to bring development to Berekum.
The Global Chairman for the Association, Rev. Kofi Kyere in an exclusive interview with the media which Alrich24newsgh.com captured, disclosed that, the Association which is not even two years old have undertaken a lot of projects to support the communities in Berekum.
These includes the completion of 5 boreholes, left uncompleted by the previous Municipal administration, free Exercise Books donation to school children, Free Health and Cancer Screening, a donation of an  Incubator to the Holy Family Hospital, planting of royal palm trees along the  principal Streets of Berekum, clean -up Exercise and support for  BESS and PRESEC during the National Science and Maths Quiz.
The Association is currently, according to the Chairman is planning to construct an ultra-modern toilet facility at the Berekum central lorry park. The toilet project which members both in Ghana and abroad have started donating towards it, when completed will give the centre of Berekum a facelift.
According to the Global Chairman, the reason that prompted the Association to undertake the toilet project is to give back to the people a public property which over the years has been changing hands depending on which party is in power. The Association intends to pump the proceeds into other development projects in the traditional area.
The Global Chairman bemoaned the situation where problems which need a little fund to tackle are left unattended to, whiles party faithfuls are using the proceeds of the people of Berekum to refurbish their offices and attend funerals and weddings of their love ones. They also fail to renovate as they do not know whether they would be retained or voted out.
He said, the old toilet doesn't befit Berekum which is at the centre of the town and also posses a health hazard to the people living around the toilet which needs to be demolished for a modern one. The Association has proposed to construct an ultra-modern storey building with toilets and police post to help ensure security both day and night at the lorry park.
He said, the Association by a delegation has petitioned the Berekum Traditional Council, Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II and the Omanhemaa Nana Akosua Ameyaahene III respectively and all the divisional Chiefs to support the Association to bring beauty to the heart of the golden city.
He added that, with the good intentions of the Berekum Traditional Council towards the city, Omanhene Daasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II together with some other chiefs have visited the current toilet for which he appreciated Nana and his elders for visiting the spot.
He thanked the Berekum Traditional Council for their support towards the construction of the modern toilet facility in Berekum and said Nananom have given the green light that, the project will see the light of the day to bring development to Berekum.
Talking about the ownership and management of the toilet, he said the Association is building the toilet free of charge and would in conjunction with Nananom, form a management committee to manage the proceeds and pump the proceeds into other developmental projects in the Berekum city. He charged on all Association members to duly register as members and contribute towards the vision of the Association.
He made emphasise that, Berekumman Citizens Association is non- political and non-partisan but only seek the welfare, progress and development of Berekum. He advised the Berekum people to desist from politics since it does not bring any development to the people but divisions that will lead to conflicts and poverty.
He said, apart from the local developments the Association is putting together to transform the golden city, he said plans are far advanced to link international bodies by the leaders of the Association to build and create partnership between Berekum and other countries in the world to support and sponsor the development of Berekum. Rev. Kofi Kyere explained that, most citizens of Berekum are being encouraged to come back to Berekum to invest in farming, companies and other businesses which will yield a great returns for them as well as to engage the youth in life experiences.
He finally encouraged the people of Berekum to stand as one people and fight for a common good and ignore politics but rather look forward to see the way Berekum can develop. He called on all the people of Berekum to patronize the activities of the Association and also advised them to register with the Association.
