BEREKUM DIVISIOMAL POLICE COMMAND READY TO COMBAT AGAINST KIDNAPPERS

BEREKUM DIVISIONAL POLICE COMMAND HOLDS STAKEHOLDERS MEETING WITH ASSEMBLY MEMBERS.

The Berekum Divisional Police Command in the Bono Region has today 6th May, 2019 has held a stakeholders meeting with the Assembly Members of both Berekum East Municipal and Berekum West District Assemblies respectively to deliberate with them on the issues of security in the two Assemblies particularly on the kidnapping ominous emerging in the country and the preventive measures to put in place to combat against it within the two Assemblies.
The Divisional Police Command headed by ACP Ebenazer Ampofo, thanked the assembly members for responding to the call of the police to help them fight crime within Berekum and it's environs. He lamented on the modus operandi of the kidnappers to the assembly members to be cautious of their activities. He said the kidnappers normally deceived children with gifts, money, toffee and others as they try to establish good relationship with victims and also try to offer non-existing jobs to victims which he educated them on some these alerts.
ACP Ebenezer Ampofo said, policing is a shared responsibility therefore, the assembly members has to be involved to know all the preventive measures to fight against the kidnappers if they happen to appear in their jurisdictions.
He charged the assembly members to form security watchdogs committee to deal with issues of insecurity in Berekum such as destroying criminal dens and clearing same.
He added that, all suspicious characters within their locations must be quickly be reported to the police to help in handling criminal activities in the city.
The Presiding Member of Berekum East Municipal Assembly, Hon. Joseph Baffour Awuah on his part thanked the Divisional Police Commander for the first time calling for such a meeting with the Assembly Members. He said, the move will help the assembly members to know much about security issues in Berekum which will also give them much knowledge about how they will handle security in their various electoral areas. Hon. Baffour Awuah highlighted on the successes of the  meeting and said it will go a long way to bridge good relationship between them and the police and are prepared to do their best to support the Berekum Police Division.
