BEREKUM "WEE" GHETTO BASE DEMOLISHED BY MCE


                      BEREKUM "WEE" BASE DEMOLISHED FOR DEVELOPMENT.

The over 30 years old 8 acres land that has been a hide out for some youth of Berekum popularly known as "wee" base has been demolished and cleared by the Berekum East Municipal Assembly in the Brong Region.
Speaking with Alrich24newgh.com, the MCE Hon. Kofi Adjei, expressed his excitement to destroyed the "wee" base because according to him, he cannot spherehead the responsibility to sit down for some youth in Berekum to destroy as they have been involving themselves in illicit activities at the "wee" bases.
He said the plan to demolished and cleared the ghetto base was to help build on the good image of Berekum rather than to sit down for such an activities to tarnished the Berekum's image. He also refuted the allegations that, Berekum is a place for wee ghettos as it has been perceived. He said, is never true and Berekum cannot be a town that lodges ghetto boys hence the destruction of the place. He promised he is ever ready to leave a legacy for the people of Berekum as one of his visions because the President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo is also doing everything possible to bring total transformation to the people of Ghana.
The Presiding member for the Berekum Municipal Assembly, Hon. Joseph Baffour Awuah also added that, once the demolition exercise has finished, the plans are that the placed will be used for a well developed activities which the assembly will benefit from it. He called on parents to check their wards especially the youth to know the kind of friends they move with so that their life will not be in a ruins of friends.
The two assembly members, Hon. Rashid Ahmed and Hon. Abubakar Sadiq respectively, whose electoral area the "wee" base is located, that is Amangoase and Kankoma also explained that, at long last, what they have been battling with for years has been won and commended the MCE for his efforts to support them to demolished the base. They also commended the media for their role played to bring an end to that notorious "wee" base in Berekum.
According to the assembly members, the placed once cleared will help bring decent artmosphere to the electoral area.
Some of the residents also expressed their joy to see the base demolished since they have suffered in the hands of the ghetto boys. They said the daily thefts that they normally experience in the Amangoase and Kankoma electoral areas with be ceased.

BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ACCEPT EIGHT GAZETTED CHIEFS

EIGHT (8) CHIEFS OF BEREKUM TRADITIONAL AREA GAZETTED AS DIVISIONAL CHIEFS IN BEREKUM TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. A number of eight (8) Chiefs in the Berekum Traditional Area have performed their oaths of secrecy to be gazetted as the divisional chiefs of Berekum Traditional Council. The chiefs, numbering 8, got their titles as "Osaberima" to be added to their traditional and rulership names. A high court judge, Justice Baayeh, on the 6th day of November 2018, led the chiefs to sworn in the oaths of secrecy before a certificates of recognition was issued to the chiefs as a divisional chiefs. The gazetted 8 chiefs has been granted the opportunity and right to be part of any sittings of the traditional council and by so doing, all the 8 chiefs have been approved by the government of Ghana to be part of the judicial committee of the Berekum Traditional Council.
