BRONG AHAFO CELEBRATES WORLD WATER DAY BUT OWNS OVER GHC 20 MILLION TO GHANA WATER COMPANY

Today 22nd March, 2019 marks the world water day celebrations with the theme "water for all, leaving no one behind" which the Brong Ahafo Region celebration was held in Berekum Ghana water company headworks.
The Regional Commercial Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited of the Brong Ahafo, Mrs. Yaa Frimpomaa Osei-Mensah explained that the celebrations of the world water day is very paramount because water has been an essential commodity for all and it's time we pay attention to water as we should not missuse it and also prevent our water bodies from total destruction.
She emphasised on the fact that, the people of Brong Ahafo Region is not helping the operations of the Ghana Water Company Limited because the entire region owns the company over an amount of Ghc 20 million.
She called on the general public to embrace the introduction of e-billing and e-payment of GWCL by it's customers to adopt the system by providing their reliable contact numbers for such an exercise electronically.

Mrs. Yaa Frimpomaa Osei-Mensah said GWCL is doing their best to provide regular water but urged the citizens to desist from activities of water pollution.
The Senior Basin Officer of the Water Resource Commission in the Brong Ahafo, Mr. Solomon Danso-Ankomah explained that most of the institutions in the country have failed the country because laws that prevents water bodies have been neglected and people are developing in the water bodies and water ways.
He called on the government and traditional rulers to enforce the laws that prevent people from building in water ways and water bodies especially those who build gas and fuel stations on wrong locations.
The Regional Chief Manager of GWCL Mr. Francis Adjei Boateng cautioned that, most people are not paying attention to importance of flesh water to human life but tasked everyone to learn to pay heed to sustainance of our water resources.
Mr. Adjei Boateng added that galamsay and other illegal activities have been the cause of destruction to most of the rivers and streams in the country and said it behoves us all to eradicate all the canker that pollutes our water bodies.
The Berekum Municipal Assembly, Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Kofi Adjei on his part said water bodies have been polluted for years but said reserving our source of water production for portable water supply is a social responsibility of all and citizens must avoid encroachment into reserved lands surrounding water treatment plants in the country.
He said the government is to expand and rehabilitate water supply system in the country through the ministry of water and sanitation to improve upon the quality and fles water supply for the people of Ghana.
The program was well attended by the chief and people of Berekum including the Omanhene and Omanhemaa of Berekum Traditional Area, Dasebre Dr. Amankona Dewuo II and Nana Akosua Ameyaahene III respectively, the Clergymen, Security personnels, Workers of GWCL and the rest.

Berekum Katohemaa reinntroduces Traditional Akan Games for Children at Kato Community. Sunyani East, Kotokrom-New Dormaa Tarred Road Gets Second Seal. The ongoing construction of the major road of the New Dormaa-Kotokrom road in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono Region which was recently primer sealed for the final seal started today Saturday 16th March. 2024 to complete the one-sided of the road. Government has intention of asphalting that high way in the near future. For the mean tine it is being tarred to prepare grounds for an asphalt overlay.
