BEREKUM WEST DCE TO CONSTRUCT 14 MECHANIZED BOREHOLES IN THE DISTRICT


BEREKUM WEST DCE CUT SOD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 4 MECHANIZED BOREHOLES FOR SELECTED COMMUNITIES

The DCE for Berekum West District of Bono Region Hon. Isaac Osei, has today cut sod for the construction of mechanized boreholes for four selected communities in the district. The communities include Amankokwaa, Nanasuano, Abansere and Amomaso.
These 4 communities are to get a mechanized borehole each to help them overcome the shortage of water in the various towns.
This is the first phase of 14 mechanized borehole project to be constructed by the DCE in the district under the community water and sanitation project. The DCE first paid a courtesy call to the chief and people of Amankokwaa to break grounds to start the mechanized water project.
The chief of Amankokwaa, Nana Adu Boahen Kusi Amoah Gyan II commended the DCE for the hard work to provide them with portable water which the people have been praying for a long time.
According to the Amankokwaahene, the town have been neglected for a long time by the previous governments but thanked the DCE for the action taken to provide them with water. He said only Hon. Isaac Osei's time as DCE of Berekum West that the people of Amankokwaa have benefited from the NPP government but said the Municipal Assembly failed to provide them with the necessary facilities. He said a construction of a toilet facility has just begun in the town and  he praised the DCE for all the develepomtal projects he has started to bridge the development gab in the district.
He urged the DCE to keep on with the good works and also help fulfill all the promises made to the people in the district.
At Nanasuano, the Chiefs and people welcomed the DCE to his home town. The Chief, Nana Osei Amankwaa whose son is the DCE, thanked him for the water project but requested for accessible roads construction in the town to enable them move freely as their town is developing.
The people of Abansere, a farming community with a population of about 800 are also to benefit from the water project. The people living at Abansere are mainly farmers and also expressed their joy to have a mechanized borehole in the area but said one thing they will plead with the DCE is a construction of a CHPS compound for them to be treated with their diseases since they always travel to Berekum for medical treatment.
The DCE Hon. Isaac Osei said water is a very essential commodity and is a promise he made to the chiefs and people of these areas and he has to fulfilled it.
He said, in his farmilization tour he saw that some of the communities lack water hence the assembly considered and saw the need to construct a mechanized borehole for the selected communities who are in need of water. He said, apart from the water projects, to enhance sanitations standards an award of contract has been given out for the construction of modern toilet facility for Amankokwaa, Nsapor, Jinijini and other communities.
He send a word of advise to the towns who have not yet been captured in the water projects to be calm since every community will have it's share of the district assembly common fund and he will leave no stone unturned in the Berekum West District.
