AHMED HUSSEIN-SUALE ASSASSINATION: ARREST KEN. AGYAPONG AND SHOW INTEREST IN MEDIA ASSAULTS - UPDN, PJC TO PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO
United Press for Development Network and Press for Justice Coalition is by this statement calling on H.E President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to personally show interest in crime perpetuated against Journalists in the Republic of Ghana.
UPDN and PJC request Inspector General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu as a matter of urgency, arrest Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, as prime suspect in the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist and team member of Tiger Eye PI by some unknown assailants yesterday, Wednesday January 16, 2019.
We believe the honorable MP, must be invited for interrogation for staging a public attack on Madina based Net 2 TV, prior to the untimely and sadden death of the said journalist.
Journalism in Ghana is under a silence attack and those who matter in this regard are quiet, including the President.
Ghana according to us (UPDN) recorded well over thirty (30) media assault and murder in 2018.
This first casualty in 2019 is one that has broken our hearts. Justice for Ahmed Hussein is non negotiable. Journalism is not a crime.
We are carefully watching the space, to inform our next line of action.
Long live Tiger Eye PI
Long live Investigative Journalism
Long live Press Freedom
