BEREKUM WEST DCE EVACUATES 100 YEARS OLD JAMDEDE REFUSE DUMP

The District Chief Exercutive (DCE) of Berekum West District of the Brong Ahafo Region, Hon. Isaac Osei has today 3rd December, 2018 cut the sod for the evacuation of the Berekum Jamdede over eighty years old refuse dump which has affected the people for a long time.
Speaking to Accra FM reporter Opamago Paparichy, the residents expressed their joy about the evacuation of the refuse dump and thanked the DCE for fulfilling one of his promises made to the people of Jamdede.

The Chief of Jamdede, Nana Boakye Adjei also thanked the DCE and the Nana Akufo Addo led government for the good work done. He said, a lot of promises were made by the past leaders of Berekum but none of them was able to live to his promise when  the mandate was given to them, but Hon. Isaac Osei is exceptional and he is on top of the job he is doing as far as  the people in the District are concerned.
The DCE, on his part thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for the opportunity given him. He further said apart from the refuse dump in  Jamdede the district has 9 different refuse dumps and Jinijini the district capital refuse dump site is the next to be evacuated within the few weeks ahead. He said he has promised the people in the district they will see more development under his administration. He however pleaded for their  support in order to complete the vision he has for them.
He said after the evacuation, zoomlion will take over the site and manage it by making sure refuse is put into the container to prevent people from throwing them anyhow. He said people are going to be  prosecuted if they fail to abide by the rules governing environmental health. He also  pledged  that the communities  in the District like Fetentaa and others  are going to have bungalows built for teachers that are posted there. This will be funded by the Assembly common fund.

The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum.
