BEREKUM WEST DISTRICT NEEDS SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICERS.

Berekum West , a nine months old newly created district ,  in the Brong Ahafo Region , is in die need of medical officers to supervise the health activities and programs for the people in the district.
Speaking to the Assembly Members,  at its maiden meeting, the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Isaac Osei, in his sessional address , said, "the health sector in our district is  bedevilled with many challenges thereby jeopardizing our efforts to provide good and affordable health services to our people. The district has no medical officers to serve the population of about 79,656, he said."
According to the DCE, the district capital, Jinijini can only boast of a health center and said, the physician assistant managing the facility has been posted from the center without a replacement.
He said, the assembly has budgeted to construct staff quarters at the Jinijini health center very soon to accommodate the staff at the center.
Hon. Isaac Osei explained that, out of 19 CHIPS Compounds constructed in the district, only 5 of them are operational namely Fetentaa, Botokrom, Nkyenkyeman, Amomaso and Tewbabi.
The DCE announced that, Amankokwaa and Nsapor CHIPS compounds respectively will start operating since he has pleaded with the Berekum Municipal Health Director to post staff to the Amankokwaa CHIPS compound whiles Nsapor CHIPS compound which is faced with water challenges will soon  be solved to pave way for the people to access the facility.
Hon. Isaac Osei, therefore assured the assembly members, that plans are far advanced to secure offices to enable  Ghana Health Service to establish a health dirctorate in the district to facilitate administration of health services and health delivery in the district.
The assembly members on their part also assured to support the DCE to help build infrastructural projects for the people of Berekum West District Assembly.
The DCE to concluded his speech by standing on behalf of the chiefs and people of the district and thanked the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo for the honour done to the people of Berekum West by carving the district for them.
The presiding member, Hon. Yaw Ansu did not hide his joy but encouraged the assembly members to team up regardless of their political differences to see the assembly progressing with all their resources .

The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms.
