BEREKUM GIRLS CELEBRATE'S WORLD INTERNATIONAL GIRLS DAY

The world is today 11th October, 2018 celebrating World International Girls Day, which the Girl Child Coordinator in the Berekum Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region, Madam Augusta Amponsa has advised the girls in Berekum to abstain themselves from teenage pregnancy which is the only stumble block to their education. She said in the past months some of the girls have indulged themselves in teenage pregnancy and according to her teenage pregnancy has been in ascendance in the Municipality, and called on parents to monitor and assist their girl child in terms of financial difficulties which will not led them into peer pressure which the results will be teenage pregnancy.
She urged the girls especially those in schools to marry their books to achieve the higher height in life.
She said as a Coordinator together with her two facilitators which are Madam Anita Konama and Madam Deborah Antwiwaa Benneh,  Berekum Education Directorate and the Berekum Municipal Assembly, they are doing all their best to train the girls to acquire skills that will fetch them income so that they will not depend on anybody.
Madam Augusta advised the girls that non of them should rely on any man or boy for a financial support which will hurt and ruin their life in future. She begged on the boys to also not to lead the girls astray to destroy their lives especially on their education.
She appealed for an assistant to support the girls in Berekum so that the girls will have access to mechanisms that will develop them for their future.
The Berekum Municipal Girl Child team paid a courtesy call to the newly enstooled Omanhemaa of Berekum Traditional Area, Nana Kosua Ameyaahene III about today being marked as the world international girls day which Nana Kosua Ameyaahene III also advised the girls to always listen to their parents advise by obeying to their instructions.
She advised the girls not to be addicted to watching television but education should be their priority and be proud that they are girls whom God has created to bring glory to their parents and country.

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono Region Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II has passed on. The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
