Mathematics in Africa has been written out of history books – it’s time we reminded the world of its rich past. Ancient manuscripts on display at the library in Timbuktu. Mali was home to many prolific mathematicians. It is impossible to quantify how much the slave trade impacted the reputation of African mathematics, but we are slowly regaining a better perspective. In Trinidad and Ghana, it’s known as susu. In Senegal and Benin it’s tontines. In Nigeria, where it began in the 1700s, it’s esusu. Whatever you call it, this system of large-scale money-pooling for mutual benefit shows that Africa has never had a problem with mathematics. When we learn the history of mathematics, we tend to learn about the achievements of Greek, Hindu, Chinese and Arabic civilisations. If we learn anything about African mathematics, it’s almost entirely about Egypt. Assembly Man Donates Bicycles to his Unit Committee Members.

ASSEMBLY MEMBER DONATES BICYCLES TO HIS UNIT COMMITTEE MEMBERS TO BOOST THEIR SUPPORT TOWARDS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.  The Assembly member of Kumawu Dadease in the Sekyere Kumawu District of Ashanti who also doubles as the News reporter of Oyerepa FM/TV, Hon Kofi Adade also known in media as Al Jazeera has on Monday 25th October, 2021 donated 5 bicycles to his Unit Committee Members to boost their dedication to improve upon their obligations towards the community development.  Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the assemble member explained that, the work they have engaged themselves in demands dedication since no salaries are given as their reward hence they must sacrifice most of their activities. President Akufu-Addo launches National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Program for galamsayeres. The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has launched the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme, a programme designed to help alleviate the hardships of those affected by Government’s efforts to sanitise the mining industry. 11-year-old girl battling for her life after being stabbed at Akwatialine. An unknown attacker has stabbed an eleven-year-old girl who is currently on admission at the Manhyia Government Hospital in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. The victim, Adama Bawah was stabbed multiple times by her attacker at a secluded area at AkwatiaLine, a suburb of the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region. The incident occurred around 7pm, Friday October 22 when the girl was sent by her dad to buy food for him. Mother of the victim, Mariam Hudu is still in shock. She wants the police to bring the perpetrator to book “I am very worried with what happened to my daughter. I’m hoping the police arrest the perpetrator and punish him accordingly,” she said. Assemblyman for Akwatialine electoral area, Ali Ahmed expressed shock about the incident. World Rural Women's Day Celebrated to Promote Women in Agriculture.

WORLD RURAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION HELD TO PROMOTE WOMEN IN FARMING IN THE WAKE OF COVID-19. Farmer’s Organization Network Ghana (FONG) and Rural Women German Association, the two non-profit organisations together has organized the world rural women's day celebration in the Pru West District capital of Prang in the Bono East Region to motivate the women in the rural areas in farming.  This year's celebration attracted a lot  of dignitaries to the occasion including the Omanhene of Prang, Nana  Kwadwo Nkarko, the  Member of  Parliament for Pru West, Hon. Stephen  Jalula, Dr. King David  Amoah also the  President for the Farmers Organization Network Ghana (FONG) and also the President for (UNDP)  in Ghana and Madam Gladys Adusa (PRO for  FONG and UNDP in Ghana).
