Workshop on Reparation and Healing of Historical Injustices in Africa Held at AU Commission. On February 27, 2025, at Kuriftu African Village Resort, Addis Ababa, and February 28, 2025, at the African Union Commission, Addis Ababa, a two-day workshop titled ‘The Role of Faith Communities and Ethical Organizations in Advancing Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations’ will be organized by the African Union Citizens and Diaspora Directorate (CIDO), AU Chaplaincy, Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light(HWPL), Pan African Conference on Ethics and Bioethics (COPAB), Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar(SECAM), Interreligious Association for Peace and Development (IAPD) Africa and United Religions Initiative(URI). ASUOKOW RESIDENTS DECRIES GALAMSEY DESTRUCTION OF WATER SOURCES, PLEADS FOR SUPPORT. Residents of Asuokow in Upper West Akyem District of the Eastern Region, are calling on the government, stakeholders, and NGOs to intervene as illegal mining activities have devastated their vital water sources. The community reports that the once pristine Asuokow river, their primary source for domestic use, has been severely polluted and rendered unusable The water bodies have lost their original colour due to the work of galamseyers, which has caused serious distress to the community. The residents are now facing a severe water crisis, as the pollution has made the river unsafe for drinking and other household needs.
