International Women's Day 2024: TVET Advocacy in Bono East Region.

The Bono East Regional directorates of Girls Education, TVET and Gender Desk and Ghana TVET Service celebrated International Women’s Day in Nkoranza, in the Bono East region, at the Nkoranza Technical Institute (NTI) to reaffirm its advocacy to empower girls through TVET and to highlight the role and importance of change-agent pushing for greater inclusion of women in the TVET Service.


Every year the day puts the spotlight on issues related to gender equality and empowerment. This year's International Women's Day celebration theme; Inspire inclusion, is aimed at having a global narrative on gender equality, manifesting in sustainable development, and also ensuring equal opportunities for women in education, society and the world of work.


The Bono East Regional Director for the TVET, Mr. Appiah Bismarck, in collaboration with the public relations officer (P.R.O) and the officer for TVET and Gender Desk at the Nkoranza Technical Institute, Madam Akua Adjei Mayvis, focuses on the role of active change agents that will push for equal access to quality education, skills acquisition for women.


According to the public relations officer,  commitment in advocating to promote women’s access and opportunities to pursue all educational training and professional prospects, with no prejudice to their gender.



"Productive participation in the dynamic labour markets of today is a potent source of female empowerment and remains a function of education and relevant skills training. With its strong links to employers and the labour market, TVET is ideally placed to address these challenges", the P.R.O. stated.


She expatiated in promoting female labour force participation as a key determinant of which is the promotion of equal education, skilling and training opportunities, in her opinion, not for just a case of enhancing social equity but also economic viability between men and women.


She added, "The potential of empowerment through TVET deserves attention in the regions of the world, essentially, Ghana".


Mr Appiah Bismarck on his part added that the Ghana TVET Service and the Gender Desk aimed at empowering women inclusion in technical institutions where women are much less enrolled in TVET, saying, the vet education will help abate unemployment, and therefore urged women to avoid intimidations that surround their choice of courses in the educational service.


In appreciation, students who benefited from the TVET service and the program showed their profound gratitude to the organizers for how the TVET can change their lives.

The Omanhene of Berekum Traditional Area in the Berekum Municipal of the Bono Region Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II has passed on. The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
