LAUNCH OF BOOK ON ASANTEMAN HISTORY, FIAPREHENE PURCHASES A COPY ON BEHALF OF FIAPRE PEOPLE.

In honour of the 150th anniversary of the Sagrenti War in 1874, which coincided with the Silver Jubilee celebration of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, a symposium was held at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to commemorate this significant event.


The symposium was graced by the presence of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, paramount chiefs of Asanteman, the former Chief Justice, Justice Anin-Yeboah, the Ministers of State, MMDCEs, distinguished chiefs of Asante kingdom, students, and a cross-section of the public.

During the event, the keynote address was delivered by Prof Tom Mccaskie, an esteemed scholar from Birmingham University of Harvard University.


The symposium shed light on the intricate details of the Sagrati War, and Hon. Sam Pyne, the Major of Kumasi, expressed his belief that such educational initiatives fostered patriotism among the citizens of our country.







In a moment of great significance, the Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, was given the honour by His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II to launch the book titled "History of Asante." The book, authored by Otumfuo Sir Agyeman Prempeh II and edited by Dr. McCaskie, was unveiled, and the first copy of "History of Asanteman" was purchased for ¢200,000 by Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency.


On his part, the chief of Fiapre, Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II, graced the occasion and also took the opportunity to purchase a copy of the book on behalf of Nananom and the entire Fiapre traditional authority. He expressed how important the book will help improve the rich culture of the Asante Kingdom in the years to come among the young generation. 



Furthermore, the Asantehene will be presented with the first set of stolen Asante artefacts, which were recently returned from the Fowler Museum of the University of California in Los Angeles, United States of America."

The announcement of the demise of the Berekum Traditional leader was done today Friday 9th June 2023 by the chief spiritualist of Berekum Nana Komfo Kofi who was asked to take care of the health of the paramount chief but on his announcement, the paramount chief could not make it but joined his ancestors. Dasebre Dr Amankona Diawuo II was a doctor by profession and an active Church elder of the Church of Pentecost who serve the people of Berekum with calm and peaceful leadership who seek to maintain peace and unity after 17 years of chieftaincy dispute during his reign as the paramount chief of Berekum. A Student of Ghana National College from Sunyani-Chiraa Scores 8A's in 2023 WASSCE.  A Senior High Student of Ghana National College in Cape Coast, Owusu Peprah Priscilla who hails from Chiraa in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region has also scored 8A's in the West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).  Her effort and the results she obtained have brought great joy to her family and the people of Chiraa without hesitation wishing her congratulations on most of the social media platforms. She started her basic education at Solomon Bennet Memorial School in Sunyani from her infancy.  Priscilla's family and well-wishers are appealing to the government as a matter of urgency to help ensure the right course of study will be offer to her at her tertiary education level.
