Media Urge to Help Promote the Boost of Locally Made in Ghana Goods-Assembly Member.

The Assembly Member for Kpong Ahodjo Electoral Area in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of Eastern Region, Honourable Raymond Gorbson has stressed the need for the media houses to help promote locally made Ghana products in the country to boost their businesses.

According to him, it is a step in the right direction for the media to help promote locally made products, especially in the local mattress manufacturers who are in the limelight for the world to see their skills and also for those who can't afford the foreign mattresses to patronise in the local mattress made from grass.

He noted that the local mattress manufacturers in his electoral area have been producing a lot of products over decades made from grass and covered with cloth to beautify it but without any media attention and it's a nice opportunity for them to advertise themselves on the various media platforms which will at least inspired them to do more to help grow the economy.

He urges Non-Governmental Organisations, individuals and the government to help support the youth in his area who are into mattress production locally to boost their skills and encourage them to produce more of such products to grow the economy.

Speaking to the media, one of the manufacturers John Ayitey explained that it was a business inherited from their forefathers and they cannot afford to be jobless but undertake such business to make them viable.

He added that a lot of customers come to them for the local mattress upon a recommendation by medical doctors which according to them it's good for their business, which means the locally made mattress is good for our health.

He, therefore, stressed some of the challenges in the business on low sales, and lack of storage shed facilities to keep their products among other challenges.

He concluded by appealing to the authorities especially the Ministry of Trade and Industry to come to their aid to boost local mattress manufacturing in the country.
