Berekum-Namasua Cassava Farmers Crying Over Uncompleted Cassava Processing Factory Under 1D1F.

The Cassava Farmers at Namasua in the Berekum East Municipality of the Bono Region are crying over the delay of completing the cassava processing factory in the town initiated under the One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) of the Rural Enterprises Programme.

The factory which is being funded by GoG, IFAD and AfDB when completed will provide employment to a number of youth in Berekum as an Enable Youth Factory as well as farmers going to benefit a lot from the factory.

Speaking to Alrich24newsgh.com during a visit to the factory site, the farmers siad, they were having the believe that the factory will soon be open for them to have access to process their harvested cassava which has been left in their farms to rot and without getting buyers who will buy it profitably.

According to the farmers, because the factory has been delayed in it opening, stray cattle has also taken advantage of their farm and consuming all their yields in the area.

The farmers are therefore pleading through the Minister of Trade and Industry to come to their aid to finish the project because what is left now is the machines that needs to be set up to help the factory running for the farmers to have a place to sell their cassava and to also enjoy the processing of their cassava for gari as the by product to eat.

As at the time of this publication, the factory only has one security man in charge while doors are locked to the factory because of lack of fittings to be set up for the factory to operate.

The youth in the town seriously shared their sentiments that, they are eager to see the only 1D1F gari processing factory ready to operate sooner or later by the close of the year 2022.
