Rev. Owusu Bempah today appears in court and remanded over brandishing of weapons and threats.

The Head pastor of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, who is very close to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been arrested with three of his church members.


Two others are said to be on the run during the arrest on Sunday 12 September 2021, a police statement said. 



The pastor and the church members, according to the police statement, allegedly attacked police officers at the church premises.


The statement said the suspects would be arraigned in court on Monday 13 September.

“The suspects are being detained for further investigations over the creation and circulation of multiple videos containing threats, the brandishing of a weapon and the assault of some police personnel,” the statement said.


In a video gone viral, the preacher was seen with men, some of whom wielded guns, at the home of converted fetish priestess Nana Agradaa threatening her to step out of her room if she was brave enough.



Even though it is not immediately clear the motivation for his action, some sources say, the pastor and his men went to the home of the converted fetish priestess after she dared him to come near her for a lesson.

The Police arraigned the man of God together with his 4 other junior pastors handcuffed to appear before the Accra Circuit Court 5. 


The security at the court prevented the media to cover the proceedings of the case at the court.


The church members of the man of God were in attendance to witness the court case today.

Remand:

The court after hearing the case have remanded the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, into police custody.

Rev. Bempah has been charged with threat of life for threatening to kill Nana Agraada as well as offensive conduct to the breach of peace, made his first appearance before the Accra Circuit Court on Monday, along with five other members of the church.
