NO PRAGIA PASSENGER SHOULD PAY GHC1.50 BUT GHC1.00 IN BEREKUM - MCE

PRAGIA PASSENGERS SHOULD NOT PAY GHC1.50 FARES AS CHARGED BY TRICYCLE RIDDERS IN BEREKUM - MCE.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Berekum Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region Hon. Kofi Adjei has today negotiated on behalf of the people of Berekum to prevent the operators of pragia tricycles to increase their fares from Ghc1.00 to Ghc 1.50 in the Municipality.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with alrich24newsgh.com, he said the operators don't have the right to increase the fares without first consulting the Municipal Assembly because it was the Assembly that gave them the permission to operate in the city.

The MCE emphasised that their operations have been fairly unregulated thereis still the need for them to have patience with the fare increase for the right thing to be done.

He said once the assembly has not given the go-ahead for the  increase, they should maintain and charge passengers with the old fares of GHC1.00 instead of Ghc1.50 they were planning to charge.

The MCE again advised the operators to station at the vantage points for loading in the Municipality to avoid congestion within the city.

The Chairman of the Pragia Tricycles Riders Association in Berekum, Mr. Appiah Rowland said the Association planned to increase the fares of its services due to the increase of price of fuel and spare parts. He said though for the past 2 years they have served the people of Berekum with their services on the same charges it has become necessary for them to review their charges in the face of the current challenges.

He explained that, the new charges are not across the board but are specific for certain distances.

The people of Berekum who do patronize  the Pragia Tricycles services received the news with disdain because the activities of the Pragia services collapsed the services of taxi drivers in Berekum all because the passengers refused to patronized in the Pragia instead of taxi, so why should we who has helped your business to grow to be treated as such, they doubted.

Most people have complained bitterly about their services because, people believe that some of the ridders have reduced the respect people gave them at the time they were introduced in the Berekum city.

The Executives of the Pragia Association were tasked to put things in place to help their passengers who patronized their operations in the golden city since their business have come to stay.
