ILLEGAL MINING: 6 GALAMSEYERS ARRESTED IN DORMAA EAST DISTRICT. The Dormaa East District Security task has arrested 6 persons who have been involved in illegal mining activities in the Dormaa East District of the Bono region for engaging in galamsey. The galamseyers were grabbed following a joint operation involving the NADMO, NIB, Police and the DCE, Hon. Emmanuel Kofi Agyemang. Speaking to the personal assistant of the DCE, Kusi Collins explained that, they had information that, some illegal miners have invaded some communities to destroy their lands hence the security task force move in to arrest some of them at Dormaa Akwamu. He sent a strong warning to the youths in the district to desist from involving in the act since the assembly has launched 'an operation to end all forms of illegal mining to clear illegal miners from the area. Asuaba chiefs, Farmers Protest Destruction of 3,500-acre Farms and Buildings. The Chiefs and the people of Asaba, Yawkwasi, Awoyaa Donkor, Aboagyekrom and Kronanu, a farming community in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region are protesting over the destruction of a total of 3,500 acres of crops in the communities by armed men who alleged to be working on their lands by the authority of influential traditional leaders in the area. The crops destroyed on farms include Orange, Agro Forest, Oil Palm Plantation, Plantain, Yam, Cassava, Maize and Cocoyam. The destruction supervised by unknown armed men also saw the destruction of some farms. Berekum-Adom Ongoing Chief Palace Construction Destroyed and Pulled Down by an Unidentified Group of Persons. An ongoing chief palace construction at Adom has been destroyed and pulled down by an unidentified group of people in the town in the Berekum West District of the Bono Region. Speaking to the chief of Adom, Nana Yeboah Asuamah Kokodabi II, said, the building which has reached the lentil level has been destroyed and pulled down by some people without no reason. He said, he suspect a certain man who claim the land was given to him by his father therefore will have a hand in the destruction but had reported the case to the Berekum police for further investigations to be conducted into the case. He mentioned that the Police have assured him to investigate the case to bring the perpetrators to face the law of the land or else they will know how to deal with such people. A 16-Year-Old Young Boy Stabs to Death by Twin Brothers in Berekum. A 16-year-old young boy who is a JHS 3 student Alhanssan Suleman aka Baba has been stabbed to death on Saturday night at one of the drinking spots in Berekum in the Berekum East Municipal Assembly of the Bono Region. According to the information gathered the deceased was allegedly killed by twin brothers Harus and Farouk who he live with in the same house but was killed at the drinking spot after they went there for a night party. Speaking to the mother of the deceased, Safia Sulemana said, she did not believe after the death of her son was reported to her.
