African Union 2026 Anti-Corruption Campaign Reaches Nkrankwanta JHS. As part of activities marking the 2026 African Union Anti-Corruption Day, the Local Accountability Network (LANet), in collaboration with the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), has embarked on an educational campaign in the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region to raise awareness among schoolchildren on the importance of fighting corruption. The campaign, sponsored by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, aimed to deepen the understanding of young people about the damaging effects of corruption on national development and to encourage them to become agents of integrity from an early age. Former NPP DCE Backs Supreme Court Decision to End Delegates System. Hon. Philip Kwabena Boahen, former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Suaman District in the Western North Region, and now vying for Western North Regional NPP Organizer, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to end the delegates system used by political parties in selecting presidential and parliamentary candidates.  He described the ruling as one that puts trust in the grassroots to select party leaders. Berekum People Threaten To Stage Demonstration Over Galamsey Activities. Residents of Berekum East and West Municipalities in the Bono Region are preparing to stage a demonstration against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, which they say is destroying farmlands at Biadan, Benkasa, and Amomaso. The demonstration which is being organized by a three different youth association in Berekum including Berekumman Citizens Association, Berekum Citizens and Associates, Berekum Youth for Development and Accountability as well as farmers and the residents are prepared to demonstrate to press for proper mining being operated by an business organization instead of illegal mining. The residents, mostly farmers, fear that the continued destruction of fertile agricultural land could trigger severe food shortages in the municipality if urgent action is not taken.
